STRATAG
Stratospheric probes and satellite remote sensing for precision agriculture
STRATAG – Stratospheric Technologies for Agriculture develops innovative services for precision agriculture accessible via a webGIS platform. The project combines satellite data with high-resolution information from stratospheric probes equipped with thermal sensors, tested for the first time in the agricultural sector. The goal is to support farmers and irrigation managers with advanced tools to analyze crop health and optimize irrigation and controlled flooding processes.

New technologies for more precise data
STRATAG explores the reliability and utility of thermal sensors installed on stratospheric platforms, an emerging technology with significant potential for environmental and agricultural applications. The analysis of thermal data acquired from varying altitudes allows for a more detailed study of field irrigation dynamics, going beyond the current capabilities of traditional satellite sensors.
Advanced irrigation analysis
The project aims to improve the understanding of irrigation patterns and water dynamics in agricultural fields. The combined use of stratospheric and satellite sensors will provide new indicators to support operational and strategic decisions, contributing to a more efficient, sustainable, and resilient agriculture.
Multi-source remote sensing and stratospheric probes
STRATAG stands out for the integration of different Earth observation technologies. The use of stratospheric probes represents a frontier in remote sensing: it offers very high spatial and temporal resolution while maintaining operational flexibility and lower costs compared to traditional methods such as drones or aerial flights. The proposed synergistic approach allows for the enhancement of existing systems and offers new tools for the digitalization of agriculture.
