Connecting Space and Earth: explaining the Planet through data.

Ithaca is an innovative SME of the LINKS Foundation, an instrumental body of the Politecnico di Torino and the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, and we are part of a true supply chain in the aerospace sector: from basic research with the Politecnico di Torino, through applied research managed by the LINKS Foundation, to the provision of our services in the field of Earth Observation.

We were founded in 2020 from the original non-profit association ITHACA (Information Technology for Humanitarian Assistance, Cooperation and Action), established in 2007 and dedicated to applied research in the field of Earth Observation in support of humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters.

Thanks to twenty years of experience in managing and interpreting Earth Observation data, ITHACA occupies a strategic position within the downstream sector of the Italian and European aerospace industry.

The technical value of ITHACA lies in its established ability to acquire, manage, and process geospatial data in order to extract value-added information and provide innovative applications based on Earth Observation (EO).

These skills allow for the development of advanced methods to analyze remotely sensed data, deriving useful information and creating technical tools for various sectors, from emergency management to agriculture, up to more innovative fields such as astrophysics and the testing of emerging technologies (e.g., CubeHAPS or stratospheric probes), handling the pre-processing, analysis, and validation of collected data.

The expertise and experience gained allow ITHACA to act across different vertical domains of the EO market, thanks also to the different types of internal activities that include applied research (R&D area), service provision (EO Services), and product development (GS – Geospatial Solutions). Linked to these activities is the network of skills that ITHACA has been able to grow over the last two decades, which supports the continuous development of new know-how and allows for its involvement in new application areas.
