Theme maps, infographics and MapBooks on a global scale
Representing the territory to understand it better
The Cartographic Mapping service is one of the pillars of Ithaca’s operations, alongside Rapid Mapping. It involves the creation, within short timeframes, of digital and printed cartographic products—reference maps, thematic maps, infographics, and MapBook collections—designed to describe, analyze, and communicate geographic phenomena across terrestrial areas of various sizes. The team manages the entire production process: from the selection and processing of data (raster and vector) from reliable open sources, to the delivery of the finished product.
Unione Europea
The service is primarily carried out on behalf of European agencies, with whom Ithaca consistently collaborates to provide high-reliability and high-readability cartography.
Cartographic Mapping produces four main types of maps:
Reference maps:
containing topographic, hydrographic, administrative, road network, and toponymic information, essential for localization and orientation.
Thematic maps:
representing specific data (environmental, demographic, economic, etc.) through symbols that facilitate understanding.
Infographic maps:
visualizing complex phenomena (social, cultural, natural) using intuitive and quantitative graphic elements.
MapBooks:
coherent collections of maps focused on a theme, accompanied by explanatory texts and suitable for structured consultation.
Readable, updated, and adaptable maps
The products are designed to ensure immediacy, precision, and clarity in interpreting territorial phenomena. The service allows complex geospatial data to be transformed into highly readable visual tools, adaptable to different contexts and target audiences.
Full cycle and relying on open sources
The service is distinguished by two key elements: the end-to-end approach, which ensures complete supervision throughout the entire production cycle, and the integration of open data sources, which make the service flexible, sustainable, scalable, and updatable over time. This approach allows for work on heterogeneous territories while maintaining high standards of graphic and informative quality.
